Buying a New Construction Home
When looking to purchase a home, there is no better way to get exactly what you want than by purchasing a new construction home. You can personalize and customize your home to suit your family’s needs, and there is nothing like moving into a house with a fresh history that you get to write.
NuStar Construction is Utah’s premier home builder, and we strive to give you the home of your dreams. We believe that the best way to build a house is to build it right the first time. We can fix, change, or build your home so you can have the house you’ve always wanted, even if you don’t want to move. Here’s a look at the pros and cons of buying a new construction home, and what you should consider if you are thinking about taking the plunge and buying a new home.
Pros of New Homes
As mentioned, a huge pro of building your own home is the newness. It is an amazing feeling to move into a new house with a fresh coat of paint, new and unscratched floors, and a bathroom so clean it could have come straight out of a commercial. Another big pro of buying a new home is that there are no emotional ties to the home that drive up prices and hold them there.
Someone selling their home is less likely to budge than a builder with dozens of homes to sell. You can get a lot of value out of your home purchase as well by negotiating with the builder to get upgrades that increase your home’s worth while maintaining the value of the builder’s neighborhood.
Cons of New Homes
Although there are some great pros, there are also some cons of buying a new home. First, it is likely that the home will be in a new development. While it is great to be part of a new community and get to help define your new neighborhood, it might also be a while until the construction is finished. If you are one of the first people in the new development, you will likely not see an end to construction for a year or two, unfortunately.
It is hard to find undeveloped land the closer you get to the city center, so this means that a new construction home could be out of the way, leaving you with a longer commute, and limited resources in a close vicinity to your neighborhood. Fortunately, as more people move into the area, businesses and other developments will slowly build up so your drive to the grocery store won’t have to be long forever.
